Video: Tom D’Angelo and Anthony Chiang on disappointing Miami Heat season opener

ORLANDO – Well, this is not what the Miami Heat envisioned.

The Heat rolled into Orlando Wednesday for their season opener expecting to pick up from last season’s 30-11 finish and instead played more like they did during their 11-30 start.

Miami dropped a 116-109 decision to the Magic, a score that does not indicate how one-sided this game was. The Heat never led during the final 28 minutes and trailed by 17 points with 10 minutes remaining before climbing back to within two. But they could not finish the job.

And as we talk about in our latest video, not even Hassan Whiteside’s big night – 26 points, 22 rebounds – could offset a shaky defensive performance. Coach Erik Spoelstra was not happy with his team allowing Orlando to shoot 48 percent from the floor and score 56 points in the paint.

Miami returns home for Saturday’s home opener against Indiana. Expect a better effort.
