Celtics center Al Horford will not play vs. Heat due to personal reasons

MIAMI — The Heat will face the Celtics on Monday night. But the Heat won’t face Al Horford.

Horford will not play Monday against Miami for personal reasons. The four-time All-Star is with his family as his wife just gave birth to their second child, according to Adam Himmelsbach from The Boston Globe. Report: Oklahoma City hoping to clear cap space to pair Al Horford with Kevin Durant

The Heat aren’t the only team preparing a big pitch for coveted free Kevin Durant.

ESPN reported that the Thunder have made calls around the league looking to clear a “massive amount” of cap space. Rival executives believe Oklahoma City is looking to create space to pursue Al Horford in addition to Durant. Tough decisions for Heat with Chris Bosh out

The Heat are uncertain about Chris Bosh’s status going forward, but one thing they do know is the games will keep coming.

While it is difficult to shift focus back to basketball, Miami has no choice. The team resumes the second half of the season Friday in Atlanta, the start of three games in four nights, and must decide how to proceed.
