Scouting report: The Heat will be without Rodney McGruder (left tibia surgery), Okaro White (left foot surgery), Dion Waiters (sprained left ankle) and Justise Winslow (strained left knee) against the Pistons. James Johnson is expected to play after missing six of the last seven games with right ankle bursitis. … The Pistons will be without Reggie Jackson (right ankle sprain), Jon Leuer (left ankle sprain), Andre Drummond (ribs) and Stanley Johnson (hip). Avery Bradley (right groin strain) will play. … Since the Pistons started 14-6, they have posted a 6-9 record. But Detroit has been hot lately, winning six of its past eight games. … Pistons center Andre Drummond ranks second in the league in rebounding with 15.2 per game. He’s also averaging 14.3 points, 3.7 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.3 blocks this season. … Over the past 10 games, Detroit ranks third in defensive rating (allowing 101.7 points per 100 possessions). … The Heat are 8-4 over their past 12 games. … Miami center Hassan Whiteside finished with a career-high four assists and season-high 10 screen assists in Saturday’s win over the Magic. … The Heat and Pistons have already faced off once this season, with the Pistons earning a 112-103 win in Detroit on Nov. 12.
