Scouting report: Center Hassan Whiteside (left knee bone bruise) and forward Justise Winslow (left knee strain) will miss Friday’s game. The Heat will also be without swingman Rodney McGruder (left tibia surgery) and forward Okaro White (left foot surgery), who are both out indefinitely. … Hornets center Cody Zeller will miss Friday’s game after undergoing surgery on his left knee. … The Heat and Hornets have already faced off once this season. The Heat won 105-100 on Dec. 1 in Miami. … The Hornets started the season with a 5-3 record. Since then, Charlotte has won just five of its last 14 games. … Nicolas Batum missed the first 12 games of the season with a sprained left elbow. Since returning, Batum is averaging 10.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 29.8 minutes in 13 games. … Hornets center Dwight Howard is averaging 23.8 points, 14.3 rebounds and 3.3 blocks over his past four games. … The Hornets have outscored opponents by 108 points with Kemba Walker playing. But the results have been terrible when Walker isn’t on the court, as opponents have outscored Charlotte by 162 points when the star point guard is not playing. … The Heat defense’s up-and-down season continues. In its 13 wins this season, Miami has allowed 95.5 points per 100 possessions.
