Scouting report: The teams split two games last season , each winning on the other’s home floor. Miami has won three of the last five in Denver after losing 10 in a row. … The Heat hope to have James Johnson back after the power forward sat out Wednesday’s victory over the Bull with right knee tendinitis. Hassan Whiteside returned Wednesday after missing five games with a bruised bone on his left knee and recorded his ninth consecutive double-double, dating back to last season, with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Whiteside averaged 20.5 points and 13.5 boards against the Nuggets last season, while Goran Dragic had 38 points in the two games. … Center Nikola Jokic, one of the most underrated players in the league, leads the Nuggets in points (16.1), rebounds (11.9) and assists (5.0). He averaged 18.0 points and 12.0 rebounds last season against the Heat. … Denver followed a disappointing road loss to the Knicks Monday with a home win over Toronto Wednesday in which Jokic has 8 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists. … The Nuggets will be without Juancho Hernagomez (mononucleosis).
