Miami Heat jerseys, intro video will have old-school feel this month

MIAMI — The Heat are going to look like those 1990s teams that featured Alonzo Mourning and Tim Hardaway this month.

No, Mourning and Hardaway aren’t making comebacks. Instead, the Heat will sport their Nike “Classic Edition” jerseys for most of their games this month starting with Wednesday’s home contest against the Bulls.

The throwback jersey resembles the uniform that Miami wore when the franchise played its first game in 1988 all the way up until the end of the 1998-99 season.

“I just think about the guys that came before me and all the guys I had an opportunity to watch and put that jersey on and play this game,” said Heat forward Udonis Haslem, who grew up in Miami as a Heat fan. “The list goes on and on from Zo and other guys I looked up to and never thought I’d have the opportunity to play with side by side with these guys. It’s an honor to me to wear the Miami Heat jersey, but even more to wear the jerseys of those guys.”

The Heat also put together a pretty cool introduction video to go along with the retro uniforms. It features highlights from the first 29 seasons of Heat basketball with “Don’t Sweat The Technique” by Eric B. and Rakim playing in the background.
