Up to date list of more than 125 NBA free agents

James Johnson and Dion Waiters will opt out of their contracts with the Miami Heat and become free agents.

The busiest time of the NBA offseason begins at 12 a.m. Saturday when free agency is off and running.

More than 125 players will become free agents, most of them unrestricted with a handful restricted, meaning that player can sign an offer sheet with any team but his original team can retain him by matching the terms of that offer. This is how the  Miami Heat retained Tyler Johnson last season.

Some players have team options and other player options. Heat guard Wayne Ellington is not a free agent yet because the Heat have yet to decided if they want to bring him back for $6 million. Players like Miami’s Josh McRoberts and Chicago’s Dwyane Wade have said they will opt in and forgo the chance of being a free agent. Others like the Heat’s James Johnson and Dion Waiters will opt out and become free agents.

While teams can talk to players and reach deals starting Saturday, contracts are not allowed to sign before noon July 6.
