LeBron James reveals ‘secret motivation’ is connected to the Miami Heat

During last year’s NBA Finals, LeBron James revealed he was being powered by some “secret motivation.” When pressed for details, James promised he would say what it was after the Cavaliers won an NBA title.

Golden State ended up winning the 2015 NBA championship, so James never had to reveal the source of his motivation last year. But after Cleveland became the first team in NBA history to rally from a 3-1 series deficit to win the NBA Finals on Sunday night, the subject was brought up again in his postgame press conference.

James didn’t want to reveal it in front of a full room of reporters, but he told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin that his secret motivation was someone in Miami telling him that going to the Cavaliers was the biggest mistake of his career.

A specific name wasn’t revealed, but most believe James is talking about Pat Riley. Either way, James’ “secret motivation” is connected to the Heat.
