With all the fretting about who Miami might face in the first round of the postseason this weekend, Goran Dragic thinks the other teams should be the worried ones.
“Yeah, we have enough confidence,” Dragic said. “We can win games away. We’re gonna be a dangerous team. Nobody wants to play us in the playoffs.”
Unlike the Western Conference, which has two monsters at the top, the East should have plenty of drama. Cleveland is locked into the No. 1 seed with Toronto close behind, but neither of them is invincible like the Warriors or Spurs. Any team seeded third through sixth in can win in the first round, and either of the teams that emerge from that group has a realistic shot at upending the Cavaliers or Raptors.
The Heat split their two games against Cleveland when both teams were basically at full-strength (Chris Bosh was out when they met last month); and went 1-3 against the Raptors with one of those being a Miami blowout at home and one going to overtime in Toronto on the second game of a back-to-back for the Heat.
“We’ve shown we can compete against those guys,” Dragic said of the Cavs and Raptors. “They’re good teams, but if we bring our A-game, we’re a good matchup.
“You can see the scoreboard; everything is so close. Anybody can beat anybody. I think it’s a huge advantage to have homecourt, but if you play first game away and you win, you shift the momentum.”
